Lety (left) and Gia

Gialeti's Cafe is owned and operated by two friends who are practically family. Gia and Lety are both passionate about food and serving their customers. Each comes from a different ethnic background where food is the center of life with family and friends. They invested over 6 months in converting what was a run down corner deli into an inviting cafe. Take a look at the before and after photos to see the difference.

Zachary making coffee Gia was born in Italy and moved to the U.S. at the age of eight with her parents and grew up in Rhode Island. In her family, her mom was a great cook and Gia followed in her footsteps. Gia has lived in Park Slope for over twenty years. She has been wowing friends and family for years with her creative and delicious cooking. It was always a dream of Gia's to open a restaurant and now she is excited to be pursuing her dream. You might also see her son Zachary working the counter, her husband Tony helping out and their toddler son Anthony running around.

Lety was born in Romania and came to the U.S. in 1981 and settled in Ridgewood, Queens. A few years later she brought her 2 younger siblings and her parents to the U.S. Lety and Tony (Gia's husband) formed Lety's Fashion Design in 1987 and are still partners in the sweater business. Lety wanted to start a new business that both she and Gia could enjoy together. After the birth of Gia's son Anthony, they both decided to make Park Slope the new site for their Cafe. Lety has always been a coffee lover and a master crepe maker. While in Romania, she worked at the "Continental Hotel" which was the most elegant hotel in the area. It was there that she learned how to really romance and serve the public. She loves children, has a very big and loving heart and is a very soft spoken woman. Her Mom is a wonderful cook and Lety has learned to make many of the Romanian favorites from her mom. Her caramel nut wafers & her stuffed cabbage are signature items on the menu.
